Why Visit Netarhat?
Netarhat is Jharkhand's crown jewel of nature tourism. Unlike many Indian hill stations that are overcrowded and commercialized, Netarhat retains its pristine character — quiet forests, cool temperatures, and unspoilt viewpoints.
The Sunrise Point at Netarhat is famous across eastern India. The sunrise here — seen from 3,700 feet — paints the entire valley in gold and pink. Visitors who've seen it once always return. The best months are October–March when skies are clear.
Other attractions include Magnolia Point (sunset views), Upper Ghagri Falls and Lower Ghagri Falls, the dense sal forests, and the colonial-era Netarhat Residential School — one of India's finest residential schools established in 1954.
Ranchi to Netarhat Route
The Ranchi to Netarhat route primarily follows NH 75 (Ranchi–Medininagar highway). The route passes through Lohardaga district before climbing into the Netarhat plateau.
Recommended Route:
Ranchi → Tatisilwai → Bero → Lohardaga → Kisko → Netarhat
Total distance: ~155 km. Time: 3.5–4 hours.
The last 30–40 km from Kisko to Netarhat involves mountain road driving with sharp curves and elevation gain. This section is why we strongly recommend booking an Innova Crysta for this route — its higher ground clearance, diesel engine power, and stability on mountain roads make it significantly more suitable than a sedan.

Upper Ghagri Falls
A powerful seasonal waterfall on the Koel River, best seen post-monsoon (July–October). 28 km from Netarhat town.
💡 Road can be rough — Innova recommended for this excursion.
Netarhat Residential School
Established in 1954, this colonial-era school set in 3,000+ acres of forest is architecturally stunning. The campus can be viewed from outside.
💡 Worth a drive past even if you can't enter.
Ranchi to Netarhat Cab — Why Innova is Recommended
The mountain section of the Ranchi–Netarhat route (Kisko to Netarhat) has sharp hairpin bends, steep gradients, and road surfaces that can be uneven. Birsa Cab's experience on this route shows that:
- →Innova Crysta handles the gradient and hairpin bends much better than sedans
- →Innova's diesel torque climbs hills without the engine stress sedans experience
- →Higher ground clearance means no scraping on uneven sections
- →Innova's passenger comfort during 4-hour journey is significantly better
- →For families with luggage, Innova's boot space is essential
Sedans can make the trip, but we recommend Innova for the best experience — especially if your group has 3+ passengers or significant luggage.
